Emily Suttle is the Director of Operations and Elevate at Top Tier. She is a NASM/ASFA Certified Personal Trainer with StrongFirst Olympic Lifting & Kettlebell certifications, an RRCA Certified Running Coach and a Power Pilates Master Instructor. When she’s not at the gym she enjoys training for & running marathons, drinking wine and hanging out with her doodles, Ziggy and Chewy.
Josh is a Winstonite who has spent most of his life in this great city. As someone who has expressed passion for both fitness and leadership, Josh is well suited to succeed as Top Tier’s Director of Sales. Prior to joining the Top Tier team, Josh’s career saw him prosper in leadership positions at a number of local businesses, most notably including a seat on the board of directors for the YMCA organization.
Will is the Head Coach/Director of Training at Top Tier Fitness. He is a Crossfit Level 2 instructor and a lifelong athlete. Will found Crossfit a few weeks before leaving for Marine Corps boot camp in 2008, and has been actively involved since August of 2009. Will possesses a somewhat unique background having been in the military, competing in the Crossfit Games in 2013, a member of the San Fransisco Fire in the NPGL, a top 10 nationally ranked USAW lifter in the 105kg weight class, and an avid learner. In the gym, Will can be found doing copious amounts of mobility/movement work, exploring different training protocols, and most of all helping you all! Out of the gym, Will can be found spending time with his family, reading, or writing training designs for one of his distance athletes.
Having never played a sport in her life, Johnna was drawn to the varied and challenging elements that CrossFit incorporates into their workouts. She tried a class and loved it, signed up for the month and before 30 days she was hooked. Feeling accomplished like never before, Johnna wanted to help others feel the same way. This began her coaching career in sunny South Florida. Johnna has CF-L2, CrossFit gymnastics, USA Weightlifting Sports and Performance Coaching and Spartan SGX certifications. She loves coaching others to break their previous PRs (personal records), both mentally and physically. You can find her any day of the week doing just that, writing or avoiding cardio.
Ben is the Founder and Owner of Top Tier Fitness and a graduate of Wake Forest University. Ben discovered CrossFit in the spring of 2011 while visiting family friend Nathan Forster (Owner of RhinoCo Fitness) in Miami. Ben garnered the base of his CrossFit knowledge under the tutelage of Evan and Mandi Davidson at CrossFit Diesel, in Columbia, MD—now Top Tier Columbia, the second Top Tier CrossFit location. Ben holds his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, and currently resides in Austin, TX where he works in Technology.
Ben is a Crossfit level 1 certified trainer, and a full-time firefighter with the City of Greensboro. He found CrossFit in 2011, as a way to supplement his military training at the time. Ben enjoys helping athletes gain a better understanding of how their body works and moves, ultimately resulting in a higher quality of life. Inside the gym he loves workouts that involve squats and more squats. Outside the gym he spends as much time as possible with his family and friends, preferably around a campfire.
Caitlin is a Crossfit Level 1 trainer and a boot camp/HIIT enthusiast. She graduated with her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago, and is an Organizational Psychologist specializing in performance based coaching. She has been active in the Crossfit community since 2011, and was immediately impressed with the culture cultivated by the sport. She is a firm believer in the power of community as a catalyst to individuals achieving their health and wellness goals, and dedicated her dissertation research to exploring the impact of the Crossfit culture on individual well-being. Caitlin is excited to be a part of the TopTier community and to support your fitness goals!
Tracey Woodson is a CrossFit L1 Trainer who has enjoyed both team and individual sports since a very young age. A competitive swimmer and field hockey player through high school, she became a member of the Equestrian Team at the University of South Carolina, where she studied Psychology. After graduation, she got involved in Triathlons, but soon became a CrossFit enthusiast after trying her first class in 2013. After two years of being a part of the CrossFit community and seeing first hand how it affected so many people in such a positive way, she earned her L1 Certification and began coaching in 2015. She has completed a WL course with Kendrick Farris and still competes in Triathlons utilizing CrossFit Endurance. It is her goal to help people realize their full potential in both fitness and health. She is very excited to be a part of the Top Tier community!
Mike is a Crossfit level 2 certified trainer. He began lifting early in high school and went on to play lacrosse at the collegiate level. He began Crossfit in 2013 for which it quickly became a passion (i.e. obsession), and began coaching in 2015. Mike takes great joy in sharing the benefits of good movement and proper diet; but watching people develop as knowledgeable, confident athletes both in the gym and in the world is his true passion.
Courtney is a graduate of UNC Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. She competed in Junior Olympic Volleyball throughout her childhood and has also trained youth in beach volleyball. Courtney started her CrossFit journey at end of 2014 as a way to continue her athletic background. She recently earned her Crossfit Level 1 certification in October 2016. She has a passion for helping others achieve their goals inside of the gym. Her biggest reward as a coach is seeing each and every one of the members progress to their full potential.
Jeff is a CrossFit level 1 certified trainer. He is also a law enforcement instructor with certifications in physical fitness, subject control and arrest techniques along with basic and advanced ground defense. He initially viewed CrossFit as a way to better prepare individuals for a career in law enforcement and has since let CrossFit become a part of his daily routine. Jeff has created many strength and conditioning programs for numerous junior Olympic volleyball and youth soccer players. He currently holds certifications in both CPR & AED.
Dakota Wallace has been active in sports since childhood. He was on a national championship soccer team during his senior year of high school playing soccer, did 7 years of Tae Kwon Do, swam, and ran cross country. He began doing CrossFit in 2013 and quickly became passionate about the sport and its philosophy. Since then, he has earned his CF-L1 and CF-FB certifications, completed a WL course by Kendrick Farris, and has been coaching CrossFit for 2.5 years. He is enthusiastic about helping others achieve their fitness potential and work toward achieving the goals they set for themselves.
Krissy, a Crossfit Level 1 Instructor with both a USA-Weightlifting and USATF Level 1 Track and Field Certification moved to Winston in the Fall of 2017. Prior to relocating, Krissy was the associate Head Track and Field/Cross Country coach at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY since 2011. She does not know life without sport or fitness, competing in soccer since the age of 5 and on into high school where she also found a love for sprinting on the track and field team, she continued on with both sports at the DIII collegiate level. Now a days, you may find Krissy at the track sprinting with some friends at a much slower pace then those highschool/college days (because that marathon urge just hasn’t hit her yet…and might never…..once a sprinter always a sprinter..), riding bike with her husband or out walking her dog if she isn’t at the gym enjoying a good lift session jamming to some country music tunes. Krissy loves how crossfit connects people of all different backgrounds and brings them together and enjoys being a small part in each members journey of becoming more fit and living healthier lifestyles!
Mike moved to Winston Salem from Boston in July ’17. He was coaching at BRICK Boston prior to the move. Mike has a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, his L1 CrossFit Certification, as well as certifications with the American College of Sports Medicine, Functional Movement Screen, and Kettlebell Level 1 & 2. He’s been CrossFitting since 2011 and also works for a software startup out of NYC.
Jen is a CrossFit Level 1 trainer and Physician Assistant (PA-C). She graduated with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2013 and currently works in the field of Pediatrics. She holds an undergraduate degree from Skidmore College in Exercise Science. Prior to finding CrossFit, Jen was a competitive swimmer through the collegiate level. She first tried CrossFit out in 2014 after being talked into trying it by a colleague and was immediately hooked after the first intro class!
Kim is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and Sports & Orthopedic Physical Therapist at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. She initially did CrossFit in high school to supplement her soccer and basketball training, but began more regularly in 2011, and started coaching in 2014 as she became more competitive in the sport. Kim attended undergrad at The Ohio State University and completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Duke University. She also is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), CrossFit Mobility certified, and has attended gymnastics and weightlifting seminars. With her background as a PT, Kim enjoys working with athletes to perfect their functional movement and prevent injury. She also loves that anyone-no matter their fitness level- can participate in CrossFit and get better at something every day.
Kristin is a Crossfit Level 1 trainer and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). She graduated with a Masters Degree from Wake Forest University, and holds a certification in Sports Nutrition. Her sports background includes All-Conference and All-State awards in soccer and cross-country running, and collegiate club soccer and Division III lacrosse. She started Crossfit in October 2011 as a supplement to training for her first marathon, which she completed in 2012. After nine half-marathons, she chose to pursue Crossfit as her competitive sport. Kristin is very passionate about coaching others to achieve their own goals in Crossfit because of her own transformation.
Brandon is a Coaches Prep/ Level 2 certified Trainer and has coached CrossFit for over 6 years. He was head coach of I Am CrossFit Vida Brickell (Miami, Florida) for 2+ years. Brandon has also worked in positions as Head Judge and Assistant Program Director with “The Crush Games” and “Disney’s Fit Challenge”, respectively. Brandon has been coached briefly by Danny Camargo in Olympic disciplines and Dr. Romanov in the Pose method. Throughout his life, Brandon has been an athlete. He played competitive soccer for various clubs in Florida and also played water polo for Indiana University in their Big Ten division. He is also currently a firefighter for the Greensboro FD.
