Coach Tips: Bar Facing Burpees

By Ben Smith

Our latest tip has Coach Mike Priest showing his strategy that would be best applied in a workout that has a lot of bar facing burpees. Additionally, this could work for a workout that is longer in duration where you would try to keep your heart rate down as long as possible.

Most people know that stepping up is a good strategy for these types of workouts, however, most people jump facing the bar as opposed to jumping laterally over it. Jumping laterally over the bar is going to require much less energy than jumping over the bar while facing it. A lateral jump will also put you in a better position to start the next rep once you get to the other side. By rotating as you step up from the burpee you put yourself in a natural position to jump laterally over the bar.
